Wanda J. Gannon

Wanda J. Gannon, 91, of Shelbyville, passed away May 29, 2017 at Waldron Health & Rehab.

Born September 6, 1925 in Ironton Ohio, she was the daughter of John Clifford Healy and Veatrice (Warren) Healy Lunsford. She married William O. Gannon on March 3, 1945 and he passed away on February 2, 1998.

Survivors include son- Danny Gannon (wife Nancy) of Fairland, daughter- Sheryl Higgins of Mooresville, sister Johanne Walker of Coal Grove Ohio; 4 grandchildren- Dana Boat (husband Walt), Bridgette Higgins, Joshua Gannon, Jeremy Gannon (wife Debbie); 8 grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, and grandson Scott Higgins.

Mrs. Gannon had lived in this area for 45 years, after moving from Ironton, Ohio.

She had been a secretary with Bostitch Stapler Co. in Indianapolis for several years, and had also worked at Mr. T’s convenience stores in Fairland and Shelbyville for 10 years.

She graduated from Ironton High School in 1944 and was a member of Grace Wesleyan Church and Good Sam’s Camping Club of Shelby County.

Wanda enjoyed shopping for shoes and purses, camping, and was deeply involved in her church and church activities.

Funeral services will be Friday June 2, 2017 at 11:00 am at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Rev. Harvey Weaver officiating.

Visitation will be observed on Thursday evening, June 1, 2017 from 5-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery in Fairland.

Memorial donations can be made to OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.

The Gannon family would like to thank the staff of Waldron Health Care for the excellent care they provided for Wanda over the last two years.

Danny & Nancy - So sorry to hear this. Your mother was a beautiful woman. She was in camping club with my parents for years and I had the pleasure of being her Avon Lady back in the late 1970's/early 1980's. 🙂 She always wore a smile and had kind words. Heaven gained an Angel. God Bless.
