Robert D. Clapp
Robert D. Clapp, 89, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Waldron Health
Born September 19, 1928 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Lloyd Clapp and Myrtle (Rouse) Clapp.
He married Beulah “Bea” (Bright) Clapp in 1951 and she preceded him on December 21, 2017.
Survivors include sons- David Clapp (wife Marcia) of Shelbyville, Dennis Clapp (wife Mary) of
Carlsbad, California; sister-in-law Carol Clapp of Plainfield; 2 grandchildren-Matt & Jessie Clapp;
3 step grandchildren- Randy Weber, Steven Weber, & Chris Keith; 8 step great grandchildren, and
4 step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, and brother Jay Clapp.
Mr. Clapp was a lifetime resident of this area. He was a school teacher, guidance counselor, and
school principal for 35 years with Shelbyville Central Schools. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1946,
graduated from Butler University, and completed post graduated work at Indiana University. He was a
member of First United Methodist Church and had volunteered at Benesse Cancer Center for
Bob enjoyed watching Butler and IU basketball, and was an avid NASCAR/Jeff Gordon fan.
A Celebration of Life for Robert and Bea will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First United Methodist
Church, 34 W. Washington St., with Rev. Robert Campbell officiating.
