Rhea G. Lucas
Rhea G. Lucas, 95, of Shelbyville, passed away March 31, 2017 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born August 31, 1921 in Edinburgh, she was the daughter of Alphonse C. and Gertrude (Allen) Eberhardt. She married Paul C. Rickard, and after his death she then married Loyd R. Lucas and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters-Rosalind Davidson and Christine Howard (husband Steve), both of Shelbyville, stepson- Marvin Lucas (wife Judy) of Frankfort, sister- Elmonda Hubbard of Ohio, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 spouses, 1 brother, 1 sister, 1 step sister, and a great granddaughter Sarah Lucas.
Mrs. Lucas had lived in this area for 65 years.
She was a bookkeeper for Stover-Winstead Co. of Indianapolis for several years. Following her retirement in 1986, she was a care giver for her aunt May Allen, and later for 2 dear friends, Freda Eck, & Thelma Yarling.
She graduated from Southport High School, and attended Indiana Business College in Indianapolis.
She was very involved as a member of Fairview Methodist Church, and after moving to Shelbyville, she attended the First Church of the Nazarene.
Rhea loved the outdoors, flower gardening, and was active in church and community activities.
A graveside service for family will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh at 2:00 PM. Pastor Steve Bohall will officiate.
