Lucille Settlemire, 95, of Deputy, Indiana, former Shelbyville resident, passed away July 14, 2017 at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison.
Born in Mt. Vernon, Indiana on April 26, 1922, she was the daughter of Frank Garrison Records and Aura (Poe) Records. She
married Walter Charles Gilles and after he passed away she married Donald Russell Settlemire and he died in 1962.
Survivors include daughter Jacqueline Sweet (husband Roger) of Deputy, Indiana; 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, 2 spouses, son Tony Gilles, daughter Mary Ann Gilles Weaver, 5 brothers and sisters- Mary Sanderson,
Harriet Cain, Helen Records, Robert Records, and William Records.
Mrs. Settlemire had lived in Deputy for 11 years after moving from Shelbyville. She had worked at several different companies including:
the Garment Factory, Bill’s Park & Shop, Scott & Snyder Coal Yard, and Blue River Farms Dairy in Shelbyville. She had also been employed
with Lincoln National Life Insurance Agency in Fort Wayne for 40 years.
Lucille graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1940 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Lewis Creek Baptist Church.
She enjoyed reading, traveling, and oil painting.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. David Humphrey officiating. Burial
was in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery.
