L. Jaleen Yantiss

L. Jaleen Yantiss, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away May 23, 2017 at Ashford Place Health Campus.
Born October 7, 1930 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Clyde and Orpha (Hendrickson) Hammond.
Jaleen married Kenneth Yantiss on October 29, 1948 at Ed Taylor’s Skating Rink in Shelbyville, and he
passed away on April 18, 2010.
Survivors include: daughters Jolinda Wheeler of Shelbyville,  Melany Butterfield (husband Bob) of Shelbyville,
Janette Lyons (husband Bruce) of Martinsville, sons: Kenny Yantiss (wife Mary) of St. Omer, Kevin Yantiss
(wife Patty) of St. Paul, Brad Yantiss (wife Amy) of St. Paul, Jeff Yantiss of Rushville, 14 grandchildren, and
13 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenny, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Mrs. Yantiss lived in this area her entire lifetime, and graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1948.  She
was a home maker and co-owner of Yantiss Body Shop & Wrecker Service for several years.  She was a
member of Lewis Creek Baptist Church.
Jaleen enjoyed roller skating, horse back riding, and going on wrecker runs with her husband.  She was a
member of the Mustang Club of Indianapolis, and loved cruising in her ’67 Mustang convertible.  She enjoyed
spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm  at the Lewis Creek Baptist Church with Pastor
Harvey Taylor officiating.  Friends may call at the church on Friday morning from 11:00 am until the time of
the service.  Burial will be in Lewis Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Lewis Creek Baptist Church or OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana,
in care of the funeral home.
