Kathleen L. Kuhn

Kathleen L. Kuhn, 94, of Waldron, passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2017, at Waldron Health & Rehab.

Born March 6, 1923, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Evert Meal and Dessie (Theobald) Meal. She married Charles D. Kuhn on July 24, 1943, and he preceded her on Aug. 18, 2011.

Survivors include children, Donna M. Gollnick, of Arlington, Virginia, Marvin D. Kuhn (wife, Donna), of Homer, Larry R. Kuhn (wife, Libby), of Morgantown, Marilyn J. Adams (husband, David), of Waldron, and Dwain R. Kuhn (wife, Linda), of Waldron; brothers, Melvin Meal, of Connersville, and Norman Meal of Rushville; 15 grandchildren, Michele Clarke (husband, Stewart), Doug Kuhn (wife, Andrea), Amy Hunter, Maria Swift (husband, Wayne), Brad Kuhn, Brian Kuhn (wife, Virginia), Sarah Nordby (husband, Jason), Patrick Mullins (wife, Tamre), Carrie Hamilton (husband, Chris), Jason Adams (wife, Amber), Heather Dyson (husband, Ronnie), April Rife (husband, Brady), Heather Ross (husband, Anthony Thomas), Brooke Fischer (husband, Brad), and Katie Cunningham (husband, Seth); 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; sister, Edith Kuhn; and great-grandson, Tommy Hamilton.

Mrs. Kuhn had lived in this area her entire lifetime had been co-owner/administrator of Waldron Health Care Home for 18 years, retiring in 1982. She had previously worked 5 1/2 years for Clifford and Evelyn Nasby at the old Waldron Nursing Home.

She graduated from Waldron High School in 1941, attended Indiana University for one year, and completed the Nursing Home Administrator’s course from IU of Indianapolis.

She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ since 1943, and was a member of Senior Citizens of Waldron, Waldron Community Club, Zonta Club of Shelbyville, Red Hat Society and Zion Women’s Guild.

Kathleen enjoyed reading, traveling, sewing, musicals, watching movies and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was especially proud of her children’s and grandchildren’s educational achievements.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, from 4-8 p.m. at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ, 7025 E. 100 N., Shelbyville, with Dr. Brad Schultz officiating.

Burial will be at Zion Cemetery in Shelby County.

Memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, or Rheumatoid Arthritis/American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
