Edie Buckley, 79, of Flat Rock, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017, at Hickory Creek of Greensburg.
Born March 12, 1938, in Flat Rock, she was the daughter of Dillard Spurlin and Stella (Achenbach) Spurlin. She married Kenneth Buckley on May 15, 1966, and he preceded her on July 9, 2003.
Survivors include daughters, Shannon Buckley-Harmon (husband, Rick), of Shelbyville, and Denise Buckley-Craig of Flat Rock; brother, Don Spurlin, of Flat Rock, sisters, Betty Hine (husband, Jim), of Indianapolis, and Mary Spurlin, of Flat Rock; two grandchildren, Dustin Buckley (wife, Mariah) and Terry Craig (wife, Zonia); and one great-grandchild, Adeline Craig.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; brother, Gary Spurlin; and sister, Shirley Spurlin.
Mrs. Buckley had lived in this area her entire lifetime, and had been a factory worker at Cummins Engine of Columbus for several years.
She graduated from Flat Rock High School and was a member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church, Flat Rock Citizens Committee, and Shelby County Extension Homemakers Club.
Edie was a children’s Sunday school teacher, Girl Scouts leader, softball coach and room mother at Southwestern Elementary School.
She loved gardening, watching Indiana University Basketball and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with visitation there from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Minister Leslie Fix will officiate.
Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery.
