Doris Jean Waltz
Doris Jean Waltz,91, of Fairland, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.
Born October 10, 1926 in Marion County, she was the daughter of Harold C. Hiner and Edith E. (Kull) Hiner. She
married Royse E. Waltz on February 19, 1949 and he survives.
Other survivors include daughters Judy Butts (husband Joe) of Waldron, Joyce Banister of Fairland, son-in-law
Bruce Banister of Waldron; 4 grandchildren- Sarai Banister (husband Mark Hull) of Michigan, Amanda Gosser
(husband Brad) of Flat Rock, Jody Dolder (husband Matt) of Indianapolis, Jayme Butts (wife Kayla) of Camby;
4 great grandchildren Ellie Jean Gosser, Kentley Gosser, Bailey Gosser, and Olivia Jean Dolder. She was
preceded in death by her parents, and 2 brothers- Wallace “Bud” Hiner and Jim Hiner.
Mrs. Waltz was a lifelong resident of this area, and grew up in Wanamaker. She graduated from Franklin Central
High School and was a longtime member of Chatty Charmers Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker but
had previously worked for Eli Lilly and Worland and Eagan Accounting Service of Shelbyville.
Doris was an avid bowler for many years. She was known at the county fair for making champion homemade pies.
She also worked the election polls for many years. She enjoyed playing piano, gardening, where she grew giant
pumpkins, and always enjoyed a good hand of euchre.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos
Road, with Pastor Bruce Banister officiating. Visitation will be observed on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 4:00 pm
until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairland Cemetery.
