David Lee Smith

David Lee Smith, 68, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at his residence.
Born May 22, 1949 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Frank Smith and Bertha (Snipes) Smith.
He married Karen (VanArsdale) Smith on February 7, 1969 and she survives.

Other survivors include 4 daughters- Angela McCullough (husband Glenn) of Westport, Tracy
Lee Adkins (husband Darren) of Milroy, Tabitha Cole (husband Tyler) of Shelbyville, Terry
Arnette of Indianapolis; 2 sisters- Frances Campbell of Texas, Laura Burkhardt of Shelbyville;
and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers- Frank Smith
and Lloyd Smith.

Mr. Smith had lived in this area his entire lifetime. He was a construction worker/carpenter
and had worked for Indy Walls & Ceilings for 12 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of
Bible Mission Church of Shelbyville, where he served as a deacon.

David enjoyed boating, fishing, camping, reading his Bible, and praying for others. He loved
his dog Pookie, and spending time with family and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Bible Mission Church,
1011 S. Miller St., with Pastor David Gooding officiating. Friends may pay their respects on
Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son
Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road. Burial will be in Whispering Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to Shelby Senior Services in care of the funeral home.
