Beatrice “Bea” Crouse

Beatrice “Bea” Crouse, 77, of Shelbyville, passed away April 14, 2017 at OUR Hospice Inpatient
Facility in Columbus.  Born February 2, 1940 in Paynesville, West Virginia, she was the daughter of
Bokey and Velma (Lester) Thornsbury.  She married Kermit Crouse on June 20, 1959 and he
survives in Shelbyville.
Other survivors include 3 children- Linda Martin (husband Tom) of Shelbyville, Steve Crouse (wife
Tina) of Shelbyville, and Merrie DeJong (husband John) of Edinburgh, 2 brothers- Harold Thornsbury of
Grundy, Virginia, Aaron Ellis Thornsbury of Shelbyville, 2 sisters- June Huey of Cedar Grove, Tennessee,
and Juanita Mann of Shelbyville.  5 grandchildren- Johnathan Kirby, Josh Kirby, Nicole Mitchell, Kelli Crouse,
& Traci Smith, 4 great grandchildren- Braydon & Chloe Kirby, Kadin Crouse, and Lilliann Smith.  She was
preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Crouse had lived in this area since 1960 after moving from Virginia.  She had been a cook for Shelbyville
Central Schools for over 25 years, and had graduated from Grundy High School in Grundy, Virginia.  She
was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
Bea enjoyed bowling in her earlier years, walking, camping and fishing at Bean Blossom, and loved spending
time with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home,
437 Amos Road, with Rev. Bruce Harrell officiating.  Friends may call on Sunday evening, April 16, 2017
from 4-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions can be made to OUR Hospice of South Central Indiana, in care of the funeral home.
