Virginia C. Blaich
Virginia C. Blaich, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away March 1, 2017 at Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.
Born December 12, 1929 in Shelby County to Ora and Bessie Rogers, she married Eugene L. Blaich on December
12, 1948, and he preceded her in 2012.
Survivors include 2 grandchildren- Chris E. Blaich (wife Julie) and Shawn A. Blaich (wife Mandy). 5 great grandchildren
Shelby Blaich, Meghan Blaich, Evan Blaich, Lexi Blaich, and Katie Blaich. She was preceded in death by her parents,
spouse, and son David E. Blaich.
Virginia was a lifetime resident of this area, and was a home maker. She attended Evangelical Methodist Church and
had been Marion Township Trustee for 27 years. She was a member of BPW, a member of the Friendly Homemaker
Extension Club, a member of the Christian Women’s Club, a former member of the Shelby County Quilters Guild, and was
an oil colorist for several photographers for 25 years.
Virginia was grand champion in many cooking contests. Her poetry was published in the National Library of Poetry Books,
and she had won awards for her oil paintings. She wrote many songs and poems. She was a Sunday School teacher for many
years, and provided music for nursing homes and Christian Women Organizations.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 1:00 PM at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road,
with visitation there from 11:00 until time of service. Burial will be in Second Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Johnson County.
Pastor Tony Meads and Rev. Jim Coulston will officiate.
